MUM Class Activities Stats

Goto the Sports Games section and click on the link.  Goto FIELD GOAL CHALLENGE and kick away.  Keep track of your makes and attempts (FGM/FGA).  What is your Field Goal accuracy?

What are the batting averages for your team? Just like basketball free throws, set the fraction (Hits/At Bats) up first. For batting average, use the first three numbers behind the decimals.

Batter: Fraction (Hits/At Bats)=.???

EXAMPLE

LearningCoach: 3/9=.333

List the name of each shooter. The fraction of FTM/FTA and the % made. See example below. The online calculator can be found in the math section on the left of the site.

Name:Fraction FTM/FTA= %

Learning Coach: 25/50=50%

Remember, divide the FTM by FTA and you will get a decimal number. To convert that decimal to a percent, multiply by 100.

Good Morning!  Get a sheet of paper and a pen/pencil from the front of the room.  Goto to the golf game you played yesterday.  Golf 18 holes and keep track of your score for each and every hole.  When you finish golfing, use your scores to solve MODE, MEDIAN, RANGE, and MEAN.

MODE: The number that appears most in the data.

MEDIAN: After putting the data in numerical order, the number that falls in the middle is the MEDIAN.

MEAN: The average score.  Add the total for all holes and divide by the number of holes.

Range:  The difference b/w the highest and lowest numbers in the data.
